Although International House generates 80% of its annual budget as a self-supporting, 501c3 non-profit organization, we face a basic reality: room and board fees do not cover operating expenses. To ensure the House remains socio-economically as well as culturally diverse, we rely on philanthropic support to underwrite expenses, provide scholarships and allow for innovation in programming to better fulfill our mission: to foster intercultural respect and understanding, lifelong friendships and leadership skills for the promotion of a more tolerant and peaceful world.
Please consider joining alumni and friends around the world and make a gift to International House today. Donors of $500 or more to the Fund for I-House or Architectural Heritage Fund can create an inscription for a brick for the patio outside the I-House Café. Donors to any fund with gifts of $125 or more receive a limited edition poster by renowned local artist David Goines depicting a dove of peace soaring from the I-House dome. Please select from the funds below to support the area that is most meaningful to you. Thank you for helping our vision for a more peaceful world take flight.
This organization is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.

After 77 years of service to more than 65,000 residents, this architectural treasure requires major capital improvements to ensure its future and service to new generations worldwide. Nothing is more basic to our operations than our most fundamental resource: our home. Through 2012, costly but urgent upgrades are planned to overall plumbing infrastructure, to improve energy and water efficiency, and to enhance disabled access.

Opening doors for deserving students from around the world is a tradition we must preserve. With escalating costs for tuition and fees, many can no longer afford to live at I-House or accept admission to Cal. In response, I-House has secured a commitment from the Graduate Division to provide tuition, fees, and a $5K annual stipend to match qualifying annual room and board endowments for first year doctoral students.
